Conditions of Entry / Code of Conduct
All persons entering the count centre are obliged to comply with the following terms and conditions :-
- A valid count pass is required in order to be permitted to enter the count centre and upon entry you are obliged to surrender your count pass to the security person on duty at the entrance. If you wish to leave and return to the count centre you must obtain a new count pass from security when leaving the count centre and present it on your return to the count centre.
- It is not permitted to have in your possession any item or items which could pose a risk to yourself or others present in the count centre. If you are found to have any such items in your possession they will be confiscated by the security personnel on duty and you will be asked to leave the premises. If you refuse to leave you will be removed from the count centre by security personnel with the assistance of the gardai if required.
- While present in the count centre you must comply with the directions of the security personnel and any staff employed by the Returning Officer at all times. Failure to do so will result in you being asked to leave the count centre. If you refuse to leave you will be removed from the count centre by security personnel with the assistance of the gardai if required.
- If you engage in any behaviour which is disruptive and interferes with the operation and enjoyment of the count centre you will be asked to leave the count centre. If you refuse to leave you will be removed from the count centre by security personnel with the assistance of the gardai if required.
- The harassment of staff, candidates, members of the media or members of the public by the use of offensive, abusive, racist, obscene, threatening or inappropriate language or the use of a recording device or camera is not permitted and you will be asked to leave the count centre if you engage in any of this behaviour. If you refuse to leave you will be removed from the count centre by security personnel with the assistance of the gardai if required.
- The use of violence or threats of violence towards staff employed by the Returning Officer, candidates, members of the media or members of the public will result in you being asked to leave the count centre. If you refuse to leave you will be removed from the count centre by security personnel with the assistance of the gardai if required.
- If you engage in any behaviour which causes malicious damage to and/or damage to the count centre or any items the property of the Returning Officer you will be asked to leave the count centre. If you refuse to leave you will be removed from the count centre by security personnel with the assistance of the gardai if required.
- The consumption of alcohol or illicit drugs while in the count centre is not permitted. If you are deemed to be intoxicated due to the consumption of alcohol or illicit drugs you will not be permitted to enter the count centre.
- Smoking in public areas within count centre is not permitted.
- Leaving personal property unattended while in count centre is not permitted and any such items will be removed by security personnel.
- Accredited members of the media will be allowed access to the media area in the count centre provided they have pre-registered with my office at least 48 hours before the count begins.
